The Vanguard or Modern Planing Hull (MPH) represents a radical change in the approach to high-performance surfboard design. The original board shape that changed the kiting industry forever is the result of precise mathematical formulas and geometry. The hydrodynamic architecture of the Vanguard opens the door to a fresh approach to board design and the area of riding waves. Inspired by incredible fears of athleticism exhibited by today's top professional surfers, Tomo (Daniel Thomson) has created a design that further helps 21st-century kiters expand their abilities. Higher degrees of speed, electric wave attack, radical aerial potential, and unmatched upwind performance are all possible with this highly tuned machine.

Complex bottom contours combined with the parallel outline offers the ruder exceptional freedom and planing speed as the board planes immediately. This design can be ridden much shorter than your traditional shape allowing the rider to easily dominate the board and turn with minimal input. The Vanguard is considered a high-performance machine but lends itself well to new strapless riders thanks to the broader surface area. The Vanguard is offered with no inserts in our proven Futures Shapes Technology (FST) build and comes in a 5/4/3 fin configuration providing options for rider fin preference.
